From humble beginnings in 1937 to the sportswear giant they've become, Columbia have kept one thing consistent across the years: quality. There's also one thing at the top of your least each year when you're after a new winter jacket: quality. Coincidence? We think not.

Here at EQVVS we think shopping for a winter jacket should be as easy as one, two, three. After all, it's a necessity that you want to last. We've put together the best styles from Columbia this season, so even if your old winter coat has given up on you this year- we've at least got your back, and so does Columbia.

Quick Jacket Wins

Do you already know what you want, and want it now without having to listen to me go on about luxury fabrics and innovative techniques? Suit yourself, I get it we're all very busy and sometimes a guy just wants a jacket- no waffle.

Right, let's get you jacketed up

We've got five jacket options, and a walkthrough of all of the wonderful features on offer from each. If you can't find the winter jacket of your dreams after all of that, I don't know what to tell you.

Columbia Birchwood II Quilted Jacket in Black:

Lightweight, versatile and water resistant, the Birchwood II Quilted Jacket in black is the best option to have to hand this season. It is layerable under thicker materials, but can also stand alone against the elements on less-harsh days. The quilted texture adds depth to the otherwise simple design, with the classic Columbia branding on the left chest marking the high-quality nature of it.

The front-zip closure also adds to the jacket’s changeable nature, meaning you can take layering even further on warmer days. It has the ability to shift throughout the seasons too, serving as a winter layer, a spring raincoat and an autumn transitional piece. It’s got range. It comes in this easy-to-style black and in a classic shade of khaki in case you're looking for something a bit more tonal. We think both are pretty ace.

Columbia Inner Limits III Jacket in Canteen/Greens:

In the midst of the cold, grey and damp British Wintertime it’s good to know you have support, which is exactly what this jacket provides. Seam-sealed and waterproof, it’ll have your back against all the elements and in true Columbia style it is hardy and won’t let you down. Despite its Fort Knox approach to rain, it still remains breathable, meaning you’ll avoid the dreaded sweaty anorak feeling that plagues your childhood memories.

Our friends at Columbia started out focusing on function and have continued to do so, utilising their Omni-Tech technology on this jacket to reinforce the waterproofing without any nasty PFAS forever chemicals. You’ll be doing everyone a favour in this jacket, including yourself. With adjustable hems, cuffs and hood, this coat is guaranteed to be the perfect fit. Oh, also did we mention it comes in three colours other than this fab green? Grab yours now.

Columbia Point Park II Insulated Jacket in City Grey/Black:

So, Columbia brought us Omni-Tech in the last jacket, and now in this one we’ve got Omni-Heat too. Their jackets really are souped up to the max. The Omni-Heat tech is designed to thermally reflect heat back towards you so all that coziness you work up as you walk is returned right back to you. It also means the coat has a funky metallic inner which we love. This black and grey iteration is great for day-to-day wear, pairing well with most outfits and with the adjustable hems and hood it can change to fit over different layers as and when is needed.

The reliability doesn’t stop there, with full sealed seams and insulated construction you can face anything in this high-quality jacket from Columbia, with the brand’s logo on the left chest serving as an extra seal of approval. This one also comes in a lighter beige and white colourway if you’re after a less dark look. The choice is yours.

Columbia Mountainside Vest in Ancient Fossil:

Primed to become your favourite mate to take on a hike, this gilet from Columbia is great for days when you want to move about but still need to keep your internal organs warm (you always need to do that by the way). In faux sherpa pile, it’ll keep you toasty whilst leaving your arms out to do as they please without the restrictions of a traditional jacket’s sleeves. The high-quality make-up is reflected in the design’s contrast piped edges and the brand’s logo on the left chest. It speaks for itself.

The colourway ‘Ancient Fossil’ is aptly named, as with Columbia’s hardy approach to outdoor gear, this gilet is bound to end up becoming an ancient fossil too. It’s also just a really nice colour. Grab a gilet for your great-grandkids to find in your wardrobe.

Columbia Puffect II Hooded Jacket in Stone Green/Black:

Back to Columbia’s fancy technology, this jacket is enhanced with their ‘Thermarator’ lightweight synthetic insulation, mimicking down jackets but with the toughness of insulation; delivering a warmer coat that weighs less. It’s also water resistant, with the hood providing a cozy guard against the elements which you can pull tighter for extra protection. For everyday wear, this puffer jacket is a must-have in your arsenal, with the neutral khaki and black colourway lending well to most outfits as the perfect chuck-on and head out the door coat.

This high-quality layer is topped off with the logo on the left chest, a visible nod to the tenacity of the jacket. If you want to stay dry and warm this winter, you’ll need this.
