While it seems like Oasis have been around forever to most of us, in the face of Clarks’ huge 200 year birthday this year, they’re just another cultural touchstone; one that, like the brand, has stood the test of time. That’s why this collab makes so much sense to us, Clarks X Liam Gallagher is the perfect example of two icons working together to bring back a classic. The classic in question? The Clarks Desert Rain boot.
Oasis frontman Liam has crowned this style as his favourite, saying he ‘feels proper’ in them, and we have to agree that he looks proper too. Between the chunky cord upper, leather lined inner and tonal laces, these kicks would be top even without the sign off of the man, the myth, the legend LG. After searching through the Clarks archive he’s brought you these bad boys, and here at EQVVS we’re glad to deliver them right to you.
First introduced in the early 2000s, the Desert Rain boot has been favoured by those in the limelight for years, becoming an archival icon. We tip our hat to Mr Gallagher for reviving this collectors choice in time for ‘Oasis Summer’ (we reckon it’ll be like BRAT summer, but for the lads most at home with a double-pint in hand amongst a sweaty crowd).
The choice to swap out the classic suede outer on the boot for the maple cord is quite simply inspired, and we’re loving the bold choice of the silhouette on the heel tab. You’d do the same if you got to make your own shoes, I’m sure. Liam’s not bothered if you like them anyway, he says ‘certain people in the know will love ‘em and certain people, it’ll just go over their heads.’.
So, if you see a beige blur of boots flying over your bonce, you’ll know what camp you’re in. Us? We’ve got ‘em on our feet instead.
