4 steps to getting your wardrobe ready for spring 2023

Shannon Firby on Thu, Feb 28, 19

Ah, Great British springtime.

Will it rain? Will it be sunny? The answer... yes, to both.

With lighter nights starting to set in, you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s time to ditch the jackets and bust out the t-shirt. The truth is we’re still a long way from summer – snow in March might be our new normal. Snow at Easter? Not completely out of the question. While we toy with the premise of adding in 'false spring' and 'second winter' to the list of seasons, have a look at some of our tips on getting your wardrobe spring ready, whenever spring may make an appearance.

So, while it’s not quite time for those coveted pub beer gardens just yet, have patience, you’ll be there soon enough. Until then, it’s time to layer up with sweats & hoodies, overshirts and t-shirts from brands that we know you love.

Refresh your basics

There’s no substitute for a good quality t-shirt. They’re the backbone on which all good wardrobes are built. But while winter has seen them hidden with chunky knitwear and quilted jackets, spring is the time to set them free. Take advantage of unique logos, quirky graphics and bright colours that will pop through your other layers. Basic t-shirts and polos will work underneath lightweight jackets in the spring and will see you through summer as stand-alone pieces. That's just smart shopping.

Invest in a good-quality top now, and you'll be set for the rest of the year.

Stock up on spring shades

The subtle art of the spring shade. Time to ditch the khaki winter parka but not quite time to unleash the neon swim shorts. Instead, gentle injections of colour will help re-invigorate your spring pieces. There are exceptions, of course: neutrals are seasonless, yellow and pink should be worn sparingly and black will never go out of style. Luckily we’ve made a collection of pastel shades to guide you through what’s available. Aren’t we helpful?

Life-saving layers

We really don’t need to lecture you on the unpredictability of the British weather. Lightweight layers are going to be a mainstay throughout the year, but never more so than spring. Think hoodies, overshirts or easy-wearing hooded jackets. There should definitely be a waterproof or a windbreaker in your collection too. Don't say we didn't warn you.

Don't neglect your footwear

If you read our blogs or follow us on social media (you should be) you’ll have noticed that one of our essential pieces of advice is to never neglect your footwear.

It’s the difference between an average outfit and a great outfit. The difference between getting in to the club, and getting turned away at the door. The difference between handsome eligible bachelor and ‘yeah he’s nice but his mum still buys his shoes’.

Spring is the perfect time to add some fresh kicks to your rotation. We've got the HOFF collection that's just landed and they’re bang on-trend, while the VEJA collection provides the perfect neutral, but extremely stylish, base to build any outfit around.
